monopo Tokyo led the creative direction and production of the summer campaign films for Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU and RISONARE TOMAMU, overseeing the project from concept development and casting to filming.
OUR PROPOSAL
While showcasing TOMAMU’s wide range of activities, we aimed to create a film experience that would naturally leave viewers thinking, “TOMAMU looks exciting,” or “This feels like a place I should visit.”
We defined TOMAMU’s unique value as an “Adventure Retreat”, a journey where the excitement of exploration gradually gives way to moments of calm and restoration.
Natural environmental audio was incorporated throughout the film to deepen the sense of immersion in TOMAMU’s vast natural landscape.
The film follows two women as they enjoy TOMAMU at their own pace, capturing their retreat in an intimate, documentary-style manner

Concept Design
monopo Tokyo led the concept development and production of the summer campaign for Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU and RISONARE Tomamu, two resort hotels in the TOMAMU area and operated by Hoshino Resorts.
While the two resorts differ in style and price point, both offer the same essential experience: stepping away from the bustle of everyday life and reconnecting with nature. .
Rather than positioning TOMAMU as a place to relax, we saw it as where immersion in nature can spark a sense of adventure, while still carving out space for rest and rejuvenation. This perspective became the foundation of the campaign concept, “Adventure Retreat,” guiding the project from initial planning through production.

Copywriting
For audiences in Hokkaido, we produced a campaign for Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU with the catchphrase: “Drop by TOMAMU. A holiday you’ll get lost in.” The message positions TOMAMU as a welcoming home resort that’s easy to visit on a whim while offering new discoveries and memorable experiences.
For audiences across Japan, we created a campaign for RISONARE Tomamu, Hoshino Resorts’ hotel brand. Built around the line: “Head toward where you begin to feel full,” the film portrays a gradual shift away from the pace of everyday life and shows how time spent in nature can restore both body and mind.
Beyond promoting the hotel experience itself, the campaign also highlighted the wide range of activities available throughout the TOMAMU area.
Videography
The project was developed in collaboration with a Hokkaido-based production team and director, bringing a local perspective to the storytelling and capturing the unique atmosphere of TOMAMU from within. To preserve a natural and authentic feel on screen, emerging actors were cast to portray a retreat shared by two women.
Rather than following a traditional narrative structure, the film unfolds as a series of moments strung together, creating an immersive viewing experience. Activities and dining experiences at RISONARE Tomamu are woven throughout the film, while shifts in perspective and pacing add rhythm and scale to the visuals.
Environmental sounds play an important role throughout the film, conveying not only the scenery, but also the feeling of the wind and air unique to the location. In the final scenes, a sea of clouds, capturedafter patiently waiting for the right conditions, appears as a symbolic moment that quietly concludes the experience.
